Indiana Lawmaker Against Girl Scouts

In northern Indiana, a representative Bob Morris has lobbied lawmakers to oppose a nonbinding resolution celebrating the Girl Scouts 100th anniversary.  Morris is against the group, as he says they promote a homosexual lifestyle, sexualizes young girls, ad is quickly becoming an advocate of Planned Parenthood, for their supposed support of abortion. He says he is pulling his young girls out of the Girl Scouts. Morris did a “small amount” of research online before making his opinions on the Girl Scouts. He warns lawmakers not "to endorse a group that has been subverted in the name of liberal progressive politics and the destruction of traditional American family values."

New Restrictions on Telemarketing Calls

The FCC, or Federal Communications Commission, has recently approved new rules to limit the annoying automated calls that many people receive from companies. Many companies that use prerecorded messages, or robocalls, end up calling people who do not want to be contacted many times, as there is no definite way to get on the do-not-call list. The new rules say that companies must have the permission of the consumer before contacting them through robocalls. However, information calls, like school closing notices and flight cancellations, are exceptions. Also, any kind of contact to cellular devices is prohibited without written consent. Telemarketers are also required to make it easy for the receivers of these calls to get themselves on the do-not-call list, with just a couple button presses throughout the phone call.
